STARTING TRASH COLLECTION SERVICE

Due to the huge residential growth, developments, maintenance cost, and landfill fees the City is no longer able to support this service that has been free for many years and will begin billing for all Trash/Solid Waste services. 

First quarterly bill will be going out the week of January 17th, 2024 to all PROPERTY OWNERS  on file. If your property is a rental and your TENANT/MANAGEMENT AGENCIES will be responsible for paying the bill, please have them complete that request form and submit it along with payment to City Hall. We are taking  CASH, CHECK, MONEY ORDERS or CARDS at City Hall or mail in your payment, no cash for mail in.

****NEW**** The City will be offering the trash service to Outside City limit residents that are located on the SAME Street/Route that the City is currently picking up. Please call City Hall for more details at (770) 534-2365 and see rate below.

To receive trash service from the City of Oakwood, you must use the city-issued roll carts. Each Oakwood household will be provided with one 95-gallon trash cart, one 95-gallon recycling cart and one 18-gallon bin for glass recycling. 

To request your trash cart, please complete the form below  and mail or bring it to City Hall with your payment. Any questions, please email pfunderburk@cityofoakwood.net or mchang@cityofoakwood.net.
For large item pick up please send in the credit card authorization form for payment along with the Household Item Request Form. If you would like to pay with cash or check, please stop by City Hall with your form. There is a discount for paying yearly.

City Residents-Seniors 65+  $15 p/month  $45 quarterly  $160 yearly
City Residents  $20 p/month  $60 quarterly  $220 yearly
County Residents  $25 p/month  $75 quarterly  $280 yearly

TRASH COLLECTION

Only daily household garbage is allowed in the cart, and it must be placed in tied plastic garbage bags. The lid of the cart must remain closed to reduce odor and insects. Please do not put appliances, hazardous materials or yard waste in the cart.
The city will occasionally collect extra trash if it is bagged and placed on top of the closed lid of the cart. However, if your trash continually exceeds the capacity of the cart, you will need to request a second city cart.
Simply submit a trash cart request form (see above) to the city. A $60 deposit is required for each additional cart and an additional charge of $10 a month on your bill.
The cart is the property of the City of Oakwood, and remains at the address where it is delivered. If you move, contact the city to schedule pick up of your cart. Any deposits paid by the resident will be refunded upon return of the cart.
Residents are responsible for maintaining and securing their trash carts. The city will replace parts that are defective or worn out at no charge.
